One of our owners brought the duelling pianos concept to Australia over 20 years ago, and now we’re back where it belongs — Chapel Street, South Yarra — serving up a live music experience you’ll never forget.

WHAT IS DUELLING PIANOS?
Duelling Pianos is a high-energy, mostly request-based, entertaining show, where two pianist/vocalists face each other on stage and “duel” by trading songs and working together, to entertain and get the crowd singing along and dancing. It’s as if the players are just jamming and having this party with each other while the guests are invited to join in.

The audience writes song requests (often with tips); the players build the night from those. The piano players play off each other—call-and-response, mashups, comedy bits, and playful “battles.” It’s about big sing-alongs, clapping hands, stomping your feet and having a great time - think anthems, classics, and current hits. Sets are fast paced with song medleys, key changes, quick transitions and plenty of banter. Everything is 100% live and spontaneous

Almost any type of contemporary song especially pop/rock crowd-pleasers (Billy Joel, Elton John, Queen, Bon Jovi, Adele, Taylor Swift), current top 20, modern dance and R&B plus plenty of guilty-pleasure throwbacks — almost anything the room asks for!

Interactive, fun, and different every night—the audience programs most of the show. It also caters to any age group and is ideal for celebrating big occasions – birthdays, hens parties, office functions etc. It is all-inclusive and brings people together in a fun friendly and safe environment.

Two pianos, two microphones, two stomp pedals and two iPads, various props including glasses, hats and signs. The stage is central to the Piano Bar and has a solid wooden rail around so guests can place drinks while dancing and singing along. Throughout the room you will find blank request slips and pens whilst on the pianos the famous piano bar tip jars.

There’s just something magical about the piano that draws people in, where people feel free to sing along with complete strangers and become instant friends, where any song is okay to play and where the lack of perfection inspires even the least musical to be part of something fantastic.
